Nicole Farhi’s Pajama Party

For Spring & Summer Men’s 2013, Nicole Farhi collaborated with Sunspel(the British underwear label), and created a collection fit for a party at the Playboy Mansion. Underwear as outerwear for menswear is a rarity, yet so wonderful when it’s done.

The look was very light and understated. The (boxer(shorts were very sheer and I was attracted immediately to the white variety. Although, finding a place to wear that and not getting ticketed as a sex offender will be an issue. But at the beach or a pool part with friends? Better make that close friends, because junk will be exposed one way or another. But if worn with an oversized button up and that amazing blue trench coat will do wonders for covering your skivvies!

Pay attention to this design theory, comfort and cool. That’s what it is. The silhouette is perfect for the man of today and of yesteryear. It’s almost as if my grandfather(may he rest in peace) materialized in this collection because, if caught in these looks, he’d be the biggest fan. He was a very stylish old man, and knew the value of a good button up, wool coat and skinny tie! How fashion forward was he? Very. But let’s not bring up the past for now. I’ll save that for an homage to him later on.

For now lets talk about how amazing those pajama pants(fashion scrubs?)are. I think they’d be so comfortable and so amazing if worn with some tall boots or clark chukkas, a button up and a parka(considering I already want to wear them this fall). But the creates piece besides the underwear shorts are the blazer’s with the white lapels. Fabulous and the print is so wallflowery and-pardon my youth, “friggin awesome!”

Patrik Ervell S/S 13

This season at Ervell was very sporty and chic. What with the wind breakers and the nylon teva sandals. Not gonna lie, I’m not a huge fan of the teva, mainly because I think it’s vulgar for a young man to show his feet when not swimming or at the beach. I guess that’s a personal problem and I’ll have to note this in a later post. But regardless, the collection was pretty awesome. I’m obsessed with nylon because of the ‘swishy’ sounds it makes when it rubs against itself. You can kind of sashay around and let people know you’ve arrived in a way.

I’m a little over-obsessed with the ‘Prince of Arabia-esque’ caps that the models were wearing. I could either go to the desert and protect myself from the harsh tuscan sun(pretend there’s a desert in Tuscany…) or weather the storm and shelter myself from the wintery sleet. I don’t know how durable it is but it’s super cute and it’s definitely gonna be on my to buy or diy lists. I’m pretty damn sure I can pull it off. Besides, I’m already growing tired of turning my infinite scarf into a snood(I lie, I still love it).

This is one of those random collections that give you that ‘effortless’ confidence. Like, right now I feel like I can put on my parka, put a bandana underneath a cap and sling a backpack over my shoulder and just walk around town looking busy. The plus side about the clothes are that they’re waterproof! So you can get as wet as you want and nothing will happen. Suck on that!!!

Rolling on a(Man-Made)River

This is my first attempt at an outfit post so bear with me guys. Today I’m visiting family and there happened to be the cutest little river running through it. I decided to take a few pics via my sisters iPhone.

So here’s some backstory on the pieces. The hat is Obey, and it’s my first cap in a while. I honestly wear it everyday since I’m way too lazy to do my hair these days.

The denim shirt is H&M and I got it during the outerwear sale. Funny enough I didn’t buy any outerwear at all since I went 5 minutes to closing. The skinny chinos are BDG.
Last but not least, I bought these Steve Madden boots online since they’re beautiful and they were on sale. Plus, they’re totally waterproof! I can jump in just about any size puddle now.

Hat: Obey
Shirt: H&M
Pants: BDG Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Steve Madden

Frankie Morello is Rolling with the Homies

This year Frankie Morello decided to go Rolling with the Homies. The collection is very Urban throughout. The oversized b-boy pants and shirts with the gold all over. High top sneakers, baseball caps and the baggy silhouette was surprising to see, since last season was very slim and chic and really close to my personal taste. I had to watch this show a few times to understand the beauty of it. My first thoughts in the words of Cher Horowitz:

So okay, I don’t want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don’t get how guys dress today. I mean, come on, it looks like they just fell out of bed and put on some baggy pants and take their greasy hair – ew – and cover it up with a backwards cap and like, we’re expected to swoon? I don’t think so.

But in watching the closer details in the video(see below), I realized the how amazing the collection really was. Yeah, let’s set aside the tack unrefined sense of it all and look closely. This collection paid really close attentions to detail. Just look at the gold tank top, it almost looks like gold snake skin. Also, the models are accessorized to the nines with chains, crosses and small details that men should really start paying attention too.

If you were to take each piece separately, you could be on to something there. Maybe I won’t wear the baggy pants or shorts(unless it’s for bed), but I would totally rock those high tops, caps and gold oversized sweaters. I love the extra long silhouette. It’s so sartorial and unexpected the way the show was styled. It took me a while, but I’m a fan. I need a few of these looks for an instagram outfit post.
