Sea of Shoes…and iPad cases at Ermanno Scervino 2013

For this post I decided to focus closer on the shoes and bags(iPad cases) as opposed to the clothing and models(that’s next). A lot of times I get distracted by the modelistic males on the runway that I forget completely about the reason they’re in the first place…to show off possible merchandise!

But show they did. The multi colored oxfords and iPad cases were amazing! I want every pair and every bag. I already have feet, so shoes are no problem, but although I don’t find a use for them, I must get an iPad. I wonder if they made some cases for the mini version? Enjoy!

24 Hour Couture

This is a really old Editorial that I originally saw in American Harper’s Bazaar June 2007. I was never a huge fan of Gisele Bundchen whatsoever, until I saw this editorial. She wasn’t as angular as usual. There was a softness about her, and it was nice seeing her hair straight instead of the usual aqua-netted waves or curls. Either way, enjoy the beauty of Gisele in ’24 Hour Couture’ photographed by Karl Lagerfeld for Bazaar.

Where’s Our Blue Chip Girls?

Wasn’t Fashion Week wonderful this season? We all caught up with the looks for next spring. Prada’s Japanese “Elementary School” get ups with the cardboard cut out flowers hot glue gunned to fur, Chanel’s “Hula Hoop” bag on the Solar Paneled showcase, and the honey comb hats at McQueen…all was fun as usual, except…where the fuck were my girls at?

You know who I’m referring to: Natasha Poly, Raquel Zimmermann, Coco Rocha, Maryna Linchuk and Sasha Pivovarova…et cetera? I guess fashion dictated that girls with personality, and who were effortless attention grabbers, needn’t be on the runway. But why? Isn’t a “Top Model” what you’d expect on the runway? Not recently. Recently it’s the above average models on the catwalk. The one’s that aren’t risk factors per se. Take for instance Kasia Struss. She’s everywhere on the runway. From New York to Paris all through…but does anyone really care too much? We love her of course, but she never distracts us from the clothes.

I wasn’t alive for the beginning of the 80’s and was but a youngin’ in the 90’s, but one thing is for certain I knew all the big models. I guess you could blame my mother for leaving her Vogue’s underneath her dresser(never to throw out a copy I might add) for me to peruse and admire. Claudia Schiffer, Grace Jones, Cindy Crawford, Elle McPherson, Iman, Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and-Do I honestly need to even say their last names? They shaped fashion and paved the way for models today. But things have changed since then…

They want the clothes to wear the models now. Forget personality or standing out. Just when I thought that a new era of supermodel was slowly arising, they cut the blue chip girls out. Seriously? I don’t know about the rest of the world, but a designers garment is only more fabulous when you can put a name to it. The one Natasha was wearing! Or did you see Jessica Stam fall in that?! I tire of the mediocrity in models these days. Which in turn, I also tire of celebrity. There’s a vulgarity in the industry.

The women on the runway and fill the glossy editorials are good enough amazing! They know how to show off a designers piece in a way that no celebrity could ever pull off. It’s time fashion goes back to it’s true roots. A change was coming. I thought it was inevitable. That fashion would slowly start reverting back to fantasy. The idea of capital accessibility irks me to the point of a repugnance that I can’t shake off. But we shall see. Fashion is a pendulum and it needs to swing back to its true self. The new age of the supermodel will, hopefully, come back and bite celebrity in the ass.

Nicole Farhi’s Pajama Party

For Spring & Summer Men’s 2013, Nicole Farhi collaborated with Sunspel(the British underwear label), and created a collection fit for a party at the Playboy Mansion. Underwear as outerwear for menswear is a rarity, yet so wonderful when it’s done.

The look was very light and understated. The (boxer(shorts were very sheer and I was attracted immediately to the white variety. Although, finding a place to wear that and not getting ticketed as a sex offender will be an issue. But at the beach or a pool part with friends? Better make that close friends, because junk will be exposed one way or another. But if worn with an oversized button up and that amazing blue trench coat will do wonders for covering your skivvies!

Pay attention to this design theory, comfort and cool. That’s what it is. The silhouette is perfect for the man of today and of yesteryear. It’s almost as if my grandfather(may he rest in peace) materialized in this collection because, if caught in these looks, he’d be the biggest fan. He was a very stylish old man, and knew the value of a good button up, wool coat and skinny tie! How fashion forward was he? Very. But let’s not bring up the past for now. I’ll save that for an homage to him later on.

For now lets talk about how amazing those pajama pants(fashion scrubs?)are. I think they’d be so comfortable and so amazing if worn with some tall boots or clark chukkas, a button up and a parka(considering I already want to wear them this fall). But the creates piece besides the underwear shorts are the blazer’s with the white lapels. Fabulous and the print is so wallflowery and-pardon my youth, “friggin awesome!”
