Louis Vuitton meets Da Vinci Code

L’Invitation Au Voyage

To me the video reminds me a lot of the ‘Da Vinci Code’ by Dan Brown. What with the Louvre and the Mona Lisa and all the secrets of Paris. Enjoy!

Arizona Muse and Shaun DeWet star in Louis Vuitton’s newest campaign video directed by Inez and Vinoodh.

Here’s the description on Louis Vuitton’s official YouTube page.

Paris and its mysteries… For centuries, the most wonderful intrigues have been woven in the Louvre, a haven of culture and history.
An intrepid young woman enters this universal temple and unwinds the skein of time. After an encounter with the Mona Lisa and the Italian masters, armed with a key, she releases the secrets — also desired by a man hot on her heels — enclosed for more than 150 years in a legendary trunk created by Louis Vuitton.
Like a thread stretching across time and space, a hot-air balloon rises above the Cour Carrée. The beautiful unknown woman leaves the Louvre for a far-off destination in pursuit of her destiny.

Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent Debut

There’s been a lot of mixed reviews for Hedi Slimane’s debut collection at Yves Saint Laurent. Some say that they expected something ‘avant-garde’ or ‘groundbreaking.’ But honestly, what is considered groundbreaking these days? The best designers can do today is rework what’s already been done and modernize it or add some sparkle. Heidi Slimane did just that in my opinion. Respectably. He paid a modern nod to Le Smoking and Saharienne. It was all made for a modern girl of today.

You can see Slimane’s way shine through the entire collection. The models were wearing wide slouchy brimmed hats with tight suits, tiered chiffon or leather maxi skirts and t-strap heels. I especially loved the maxi length skirts. A lot of designers went really short this season, but Slimane(that little Rebel) kept the silhouette long and lean. The ultra skinny cigarette pants and the tightly tailored blazers with defined shoulders. There isn’t a lot of ‘give’ in the collection, as marketable as it may be…not a lot of women can squeeze into these garments. But with Slimane being the cool guy he is, I guarantee you a lot of girls will be dying to wear them(some may need to be dead 8 weeks).
